Well prepared
Your first visit with us
A new dentist is always a small step into the unknown. Here you can read what to expect before, during and after the first appointment, for adults, children and everyone who needs a little courage.
Step by step
How your first appointment works
-
Before the appointment
You arrange an appointment by phone or online. At reception you fill in a short questionnaire about your health (medical history). If you are nervous, feel free to say so when registering, we will then plan more time.
-
During the appointment
First we calmly talk about your concern. Then we look at your teeth and gums. You will learn in plain language what we see, without jargon and without time pressure. At the first appointment we only treat what is necessary and what you want.
-
After the appointment
You receive a clear recommendation: what needs to be done, what can wait, what does it cost? We plan larger treatments together in stages. You can arrange the next appointment directly at reception, or at your leisure from home.
Best to bring with you
- Insurance card (electronic health card)
- Bonus booklet, if available
- List of your medications, if you take any
- Current X-rays or documents, if available
With your child
Your child's first visit to the dentist
The first visit is for getting to know each other. Your child may try out the chair, look into the small mirror and have their teeth counted. We only treat when it is really necessary, and only when your child joins in.
It helps if you mention the visit at home casually and positively. Preferably without words like “don't be scared” or “it won't hurt”, they only create worries where there are none.
If you are anxious
A first appointment can simply be a conversation
If visiting the dentist takes courage for you, we can start with a pure get-to-know-you conversation if you wish, without treatment, even without looking into your mouth. You talk, we listen. Everything else is up to you.
Agree a simple hand signal with us that lets us stop immediately at any time. That way you stay in control at every moment.
